Foundations

Literacy: Students from first grade will learn technology terminology. Students will use a Smart Board, an LCD projector, a laptop and multiple programs.
Problem-Solving: Students will need to count different animals from the book Animals on Board. 1. When all animals have been counted for, student must answer the following questions: How many Frogs were found on this page? How many Horses were found on this page? How many Tigers were found? How many Panda Bears were found? and, How many Swans were found on this page? How many animals in total? 2. Students will use Smart Board pens to write the total of each animal and total of all animals. 3. Students will use their Accelerated Reader books to find out if learned lesson can also be applied to such books.
Knowledge: Studens must use thier previous knowledge of on counting as well as their basic phonological decoting to read the animal names. Students will aslo be required to use their previous knowledge of using a computer, LCD projector, Smart Board and Smart Technologies software. Students will gain the expeirence of using the previously mentioned equipment if previous knowledge was not available.
Using Information: Students will be able to gain the information of how to use technology equipment and software. An inductive enviroment will allow students to gain the highest knowledge of this activities.
Community: Students will gain this knowledge to facilitate thier upcoming school grade levels. Students can also continue with this knowledge upto thier college level and ultimately to a potential career. This will inturn create a posivite ripple effect between gained school knowledge and potential careers.

Activities

Authentic Activities: ƒÞ Students will be able to count up to ten. ƒÞ Students will be able to use the Smart Board and its basic functions. ƒÞ Students will review previously thought number concepts. ƒÞ Students will be able to sit in a group and listen to a story. ƒÞ Students will be able to print clearly and demonstrate to each other how to use an interactive whiteboard.
Background Building Activities: Students will use thier previous knowledge of counting and the use of computers to do this activity.
Constructing Activities: Students will gain the knowledge be able to count which will help them in thier every day activities.
Sharing Activities: Students will teach each other once they have gained the knowledge of using a Smart Board. Students will ask their class mates questions which will guide them on their current understanding on this activity.

Systems of Assessment

Assessments: Students’ evaluation will be determined though the questions students must answer during the lesson. As well as a teacher created worksheet that asked the same questions as those during lesson during their field trip to Gladys Porter Zoo.

Learning Environment

Environment: Students will do this activity in their normal enviroment being the computer lab or their own classroom setting. This activity will only take 45 minutes from start to finish.
